About Selin

Selin Özünaldım is a passionate gender equality advocate, youth activist, and international speaker dedicated to amplifying young voices in decision-making spaces. She has been actively engaged in global advocacy efforts through her work with organizations such as UN Women, UNICEF, and Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE).

Selin’s journey in activism began at the age of 15 when she founded Türkiye’s first HeForShe Club, which later evolved into a movement for gender equality awareness through workshops, campaigns, and summits. She is also the founder of Girls Who Code Türkiye, where she and her team introduce young girls to coding and STEM opportunities. As a former WAVE Youth Ambassador, she co-hosted a podcast on youth involvement in gender advocacy and violence prevention.

Currently, Selin serves as a National Gender Youth Activist (NGYA) for UN Women, representing Türkiye on a global stage and advocating for youth engagement in policy discussions. She is also a State of Youth Youth Board Member, shaping international youth-led initiatives, and a YOUTHTOPIA Circle of Youth Member, where she collaborates with young changemakers worldwide. In addition, she is part of UN Women’s Leaders Network, a permanent intergenerational network of women leaders advocating for gender equality in leadership and decision-making.

Selin’s work has been widely recognized, and she has spoken at international conferences, moderated high-level discussions, and contributed to major gender advocacy campaigns. She has been a speaker at events such as WOW Istanbul and has collaborated with UNICEF Türkiye as a Youth 4 Gender Advisory Board Member. She is also part of the editorial team for UN Women’s YOUth Newsletter, working to elevate youth perspectives on gender issues.

Currently, Selin continues to use her platform to drive conversations on gender equality, youth empowerment, and policy change, bridging the gap between grassroots activism and global decision-making.
