At Unsinkable, we believe that solidarity is built through sharing lived experience and stories, the kind that reveal not just what we’ve been through, but who we are, where we come from, and what we carry.

When someone speaks their truth, they invite us into understanding that cannot be taught, only shared.

When a community gathers to listen, connection becomes possible.

And when voices that have been ignored or overlooked are finally centred, solidarity moves from intention to action.

Lived experience storytelling reminds us that each of us holds histories, identities, joys, losses, and challenges that shape our lives. But it also reminds us that healing and resilience grow stronger when we do not face them alone.

On International Human Solidarity Day, we honour:

• the storytellers whose courage opens pathways for others

• the communities that gather, witness, and hold space

• the youth, families, and leaders who trust us with their lived experiences

• and the spaces, both in-person and online, where healing happens through connection, not isolation

Solidarity is not passive.

It is practice.

It is presence.

It is a commitment to showing up, again and again, for one another.

Today, we renew our commitment to building spaces where every story is met with dignity, where every voice matters, and where connection leads us toward a more compassionate and inclusive future.
